Further up the hill from our public buildings of the Misty Lake Resort are two three-storey hotel room pavilions that are placed on either side of an old evergreen tree to form a glazed covered entrance court. All rooms face south into sunlight filtered by the adjacent dense forest, and walkways to these rooms provide views to distant mountains over a large swimming pool. Here the materials chosen are found locally and employed in an architectural language which is more modern, less vernacular; keeping an eye on the past whilst looking to the future of this beautiful part of Yunnan.
